Ever been asked to do a job badly?

"Of course not," I hear you cry. But sometimes, it can happen. I was the voice of a recent campaign for Visit Britain, promoting the UK as a tourist destination to people in France (you can watch the whole video if you scroll down on my home page).

Who did they want for the voiceover? Someone speaking French. No problem - I can speak it fluently. Ah, but here's the catch. They needed someone to speak it ... badly.

As you can see from the opening frame, there are some fairly familiar British themes. And what are Brits particularly known for? Being rubbish at speaking foreign languages. So for the delivery, they wanted the delivery with a heavy English accent.

This campaign is now running for its second year, so perhaps I didn't do too badly ... at doing badly!
